The no makeup makeup trend is gaining momentum. With Kim Kardashian ditching her contour kit for a more natural looking face at the Balenciaga show, while Alicia Keys is taking a more extreme approach by opting for a bare-faced visage at all times. Personally, I’m not opposed to a soft “beat” once in a while, but the no makeup makeup look has definitely been a go-to everyday makeup look of mine for quite a while now.
To achieve this look, follow my steps below:
Step 1: I use a teeny-tiny bit of shea butter as a primer on my face. Then I apply a thin layer of foundation to my face and use a concealer under the eye, around the mouth area, and over any blemishes. *TIP: Instead of shea butter you can use you a traditional primer like the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer; and instead of using a foundation opt for a BB or CC cream.
Step 2: I fill in my eyebrows with and apply a swipe of neutral eyeshadow on my lids and in the corner of my eye. After that, I apply two coats of lengthening mascara to my lashes.
Step 3: Powder blush can be quite heavy looking, so a little bit of cream blush or lipstick on the apple of the cheeks give a naturally flushed appearance. I then apply a light swipe of tinted Carmex or natural-looking lipstick on my lips.
Step 4: Instead of finishing off with a translucent powder, to make my face look fresh and dewy, I like to set my makeup with a setting spray like MAC’s Prep+Prime Fix.
It’s a super easy way to look polished while running errands, relaxing on the beach or sweating it out at your next SoulCycle class. I love this look because it’s really a celebration of your individual God-given beauty!
Are you into the no makeup makeup look or nah?
